Literature Group

The Literature Group meets the first Saturday of the month. Longtime members Lynn Ward, Evelyn Bachman, Alice Davidson, Marie Johnson, and Nancy Leetch continue to attend on a regular basis. Dorothea Barker is also one of our longer standing members, and Mary Kate Fredriksen and Kathleen McLaughlin join us on a regular basis. Lee Meiser is our most recent member. Here are some of the books that we reviewed at the meeting:

  • Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
  • Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham
  • Lincoln  by Doris Kearns Goodwin
  • A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah
  • The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression by Andrew Solomon
  • Seductress: Women Who Ravished the World and Their Lost Art of Love by Elizabeth Prioleau

As you can see from these selections, we’re an eclectic group. Feel free to bring any book you’ve recently read and come to our next meeting at Grounds for Thought. We would be glad to see some new members “blooming” in the spring. —Holly Norton, literature group leader
